An Antique Hampden Watch Co Pocket Watch

1900 - 1920
Description

An antique Hampden Watch Co pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, Grade 109 D, which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes or so over 24 hours. The movement is signed Canton, O (for Ohio), the location of one of the Hampden Watch Company’s factories and the serial number dates it back to 1903. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a personalised inscription, possible related to a Masonic order.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop The case is gold filled and was made by Josesph Fahys, a watch case manufacturer who traded from New York until the Great Depression. The case is in beautiful condition with charming detailing to the back.

The plastic lens has very minor marking, barely noticeable to the naked eye.

The white enamel dial is signed with the Hampden Watch Co name. There is one short hairline crack beneath the sub seconds dial, and two longer ones (one difficult to see, and one visible to the naked eye).

Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
