Victorian Silver-mounted Cut-glass Claret Jug

Description

A handsome and fine quality silver mounted cut-glass CLARET JUG in excellent original condition by William Comyns of London.

The glass jug is heavily and deeply cut and is mounted with an embossed rococo-style handle, collar, spout and hinged lid. The spout features a mask and the lid has a finely cast ornate knop. Lightly engraved around the lid: "Sir Squire and Lady Bancroft 1899". Hallmarked to both collar and lid for London 1896
