Gillows: Fine Brass-inlaid Rosewood Card Table

Description

GILLOWS of LANCASTER: an exceptional quality and beautifully designed rosewood CARD TABLE by this famous firm of Lancaster cabinetmakers.

The well-figured rectangular top, with its brass inlay to leading edges, opens (and swivels) to reveal the baize-lined interior. The gorgeous frieze below is inlaid with a brass scrolled tablet, flanked by brass-inlaid 'panels' whilst there is attractive beading around the lower edge. Even the back of the frieze of this table is similarly decorated!

It is supported on a typical Gillows tapering octagonal section pillar, with applied beading and a gadrooned collar, leading to reeded sabre legs and superb cast brass castors.

A very good and handsome table. 36ins (93cms) wide.
