Elmgarden has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
If you remember the tale, the fox after great efforts to reach the juicy grapes and failing decided that they were probably sour anyway.

The panel came from a door of a piece of furniture and is probably of French origin, the quality of the carving is very good and the panel has a pleasant patina
The panel is 14” wide x 25” high and about 2” in relief
