Description

A fine quality English twin fusee Georgian bracket clock. A mahogany case with gadroon pediment. Brass edged recessed front panels. Fish scale side sound fretwork and standing on bun feet. A cast brass bezel to the painted dial signed 'Alex Purvis, North Audley St, London'. Nicely shaped blued steel hands. A double fusee mechanism striking the hours on a bell. Circa 1825.

Alexander Purvis of London is recorded as working in the early 19th century in Baillies 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the world' book.
