Collinge Antiques has dated this piece to the 1750s.
Three door middle section with particularly good turned droppers. Behind the arched panel centre door is a fitted interior of three small ‘spice’ drawers. Base section with three drawers over a two door cupboard. Matching raised and fielded drawer fronts and door panels. In solid oak throughout with panelled sides and rear. Excellent colour and condition with some later restorations. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Before the Welsh dresser came the Cwpwrdd Tridarn recognised now as a distinct form of furniture unique to an area of North West Wales roughly comprised of Snowdonia and Caernarfon. Produced from the mid 17th.c. until the end of the 18th.c. it is itself an adaption of the more common ‘court’ cupboard, with the addition of a canopied top tier providing an area for the display of the household’s best tableware protected from the dirt and soot of an open fire. Over time this display section grew to include several shelves, the middle cupboard was lost and the form of the typical Welsh dresser emerged.
