The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1860s.
The movement is signed with the name of the Cheshire watchmaker Thomas Maddock, Frodsham, and it is protected by an inner fitted cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and both of the back covers have hallmarks for London 1865 together with a maker’s mark for the Coventry based watch case maker Frederick Wilkins. The case is in good condition for its age with just the odd mark and rubbing to the engine turned detail on the case back.

The plastic lens is in good condition.
The off-white dial is in lovely condition and the hands are a particularly handsome feature although they are a little out of shape.
