Rue des Fontenelles has dated this piece to the Select period.
The drawing is in excellent condition and has his artists/studio stamp on the front. It is mounted in a recent gold frame.
Cecil CP Lawson was born in Kensington in 1880 and is the nephew of Beatrix Whistler (who actually painted him as a child) He was active in Glasgow, Paris and London and lived in Paris for some time, returning to London in 1922.
He is also famous for his publications of the Uniforms of the British Army published around 1940.
He also has works in the National Maritime Museum, Glasgow University and Stourhead House.
Lawson exhibited at the International Society of Artists, the Royal Academy and the Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts
