Elmgarden has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The panels have been built in to the settle during the early part of the 19th Century, one in the back and the other at the floor. The settle has a high back, the top with a crown carved into the top rail, and carved arms, this carving is also of very fine quality

The wainscot has a wonderful stand alone throne like quality and would make a superb Hall settle where space might be an issue the seat opens for storage and it is in very good condition
The settle is 53” high at the back and 27” wide, it is 24” deep
