ANTIQUE #SA362650

Large Victorian Silver Ink Blotter - Comyns 1899

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Silver Cabinet

This is a fine example of an ornate Victorian blotter. Topped with a solid sterling silver cover and handle, this blotter has clearly been used during its life time, and is probably full of history.

Clearly hallmarked on the top for London 1899, with the maker''s mark for William Comyns. There is also a partial hallmark on the handle.

The handle unscrews for changing paper. It has three small bruises which don''t detract from the overall appearance. The blotter is not gilded - any suggestion of gilding in the photographs is simply a reflection of the camera flash.
