In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During this period, British artists frequently visited Venice, capturing its unique light, architecture, and waterways using fluid washes of watercolour on paper. These works typically balance architectural precision with atmospheric depictions of water reflections and changing Mediterranean light.

Artists utilised water-based pigments painted onto heavy cotton rag paper. These works were typically protected behind glass, housed within multi-layered card mounts and ornate wood frames featuring gold leaf or bronzed finishing.

Authentic pieces generally display natural age marks on paper such as minor foxing, hand-drawn or wash-line mounts, signature details in paint or graphite, and period-appropriate wood moulding or gilding on the frame.

A framed historical watercolour can be integrated into modern spaces as part of a gallery wall, positioned above a side cabinet, or paired with contemporary furnishings to provide textural and historical contrast.

Watercolours must be kept out of direct sunlight to prevent fading of sensitive pigments. Framing should ideally utilise UV-protective glass and acid-free archival mounting materials to prevent paper deterioration over time.
