Grant of Cardiff Mahogany Longcase Clock, Circa 1840

Description

A fine quality flame mahogany 8 day longcase clock, by Grant of Cardiff circa 1840.

The well proportioned case with a shaped pediment and rope twist columns to the hood.

Typical Cardiff style case made from choice mahogany, inlaid throughout with boxwood stringing and wavy edge hood door.

Beautiful quality arched japanned dial, with fishing scene to the arch and finely rural scenes to the corners

Well made fully serviced 8 day movement striking the hours on a single bell.

Finely fretted original polished brass hands.

Matching cast iron weights and brass faced pendulum.

A very good quality clock constructed of wonderfully figured timber complimented by a well executed painted dial, in fine original condition with good colour and patination.

Dimensions: Height 7ft1", width 19" depth 9"
