Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1800s.

The fabulous piece of flamed Mahogany to the lid is also inlaid with a fine Ebony and Boxwood stringing, very Sheraton in style.
The box opens (complete with a working key) to reveal a fully lined interior in black velvet, professionally re-lined and perfect for either a lady or gentleman. There is a brass pin which is used to open the secret drawer; it is the right-hand screw to the left-hand hinge which is the key to it's opening; using the key the screw is an actual button which releases the sprung drawer which pops out. The drawer then clicks back into place.
Dating to c.1790, the box remains in superb condition. 11" x 9" x 3 1/2".
