Rare Figural Fish Servers - Carved Fish Handles - 1904

Description

What a magnificent and novel find! This pair of Edwardian fish servers are made from silver plate, the front beautifully engraved. They are marked with the makers mark for the silversmith, William Briggs and Company.

The ferrule which joins the blade to the handle is actually made from Engilsh Sterling Silver which allows us to date the pair exactly, the hallmark being for Sheffield 1904, together with the makers mark for Stevenson and Law.

Of course none of the above is what makes these scarce, the uniqueness is in the fabulous handles in the form of fish with tiny original glass eyes, carved from horn, quite stunning and fun.

Excellent condition, the knife measuring 12" in length and the fork, 9".
