A fine quality fully restored mahogany mercurial wheel barometer by P Aggio of Colchester, circa 1820.
The beautifully proportioned architectural pediment case constructed of fine quality flame mahogany, with ebony and boxwood stringing to the outer edge.
The 10'' diameter silvered brass dial calibrated from 28'' to 31'' with weather indications and fine quality engraving, signed to the lower dial ''P Aggio, Colchester Warranted''
The barometer reading is indicated by a blued steel hand and can be recorded with a brass set hand.
The dial enclosed within a heavy cast brass bezel.
The silvered brass temperature scale is calibrated from 0º to 120º Fahrenheit, with a fine mercury thermometer.
The upper dial with silvered and engraved hygrometer with cast brass bezel.
The lower dial with makers signature and alcohol level with cast brass bezel.
The barometer is in fine original condition and is in perfect working order, accurately measuring changes in weather patterns as a result of changes in atmospeheric pressure.
The mechanism has been expertly cleaned and overhauled, with the glass tube thoroughly cleaned and the mercury within cleaned by triple filtration.
