Victorian Brass Hall Lantern

19th century
Description

This hall lantern dates from around the late 19thC - early 20thC and was originally used with an oil lamp.

It has been photographed resting on a table which doesn't show it at it's best, so we will try and hang it and take further photographs soon.

It is in beautiful condition, with the original superb etched glass on all sides. The panel that opens has a brass 'hand' as a handle - (see main photo and photo 2).

Our electrician has converted it to electricity to UK specifications so that it holds a standard bayonet light bulb. The lantern measures 54cm up to the ceiling fitting, and 65cm to the end of the brass pole, and it is 23cm square.

There are no dents or misshapen panels, although the light bouncing off the brass gives a slightly wavy look to the edges, and patches of black - none of which exists in reality.

Viewing by appointment can be made in Surrey, or alternatively we can supply quotes for delivery around the UK mainland.

For outside the UK mainland delivery, please email us for information.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
