Wild and Wessel Converted Oil Lamp

1900 - 1920
Description

This is an extremely heavy (4.7kgs) beautifully made, oil lamp by Wild and Wessel, Berlin, dating from around the late 19hC.

It is in excellent condition, and we have converted it to electricity using fabric cable and fitted it with an online switch.

It measures 54cm in height, and across the oil lamp without the shade, it measures 23cm. It has a 16cm diameter base, which we have fitted with blue felt. The shade is approximately 16cm in height and 22cm across.

The maker's mark can be seen easily in real life, and is just visible in the second photograph; it reads 'Patent Wild and Wessel Berlin' with a PF mark above it.

We have had the lamp professionally polished but not lacquered.

It can be viewed in Surrey by appointment, and we can arrange courier delivery for the mainland UK, alternatively, we estimate postage and package will be about £15 due the the weight and extra packaging needed for the original glass shade.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
