Antique Swiss Silver Pocket Watch

An antique Swiss silver pocket watch with white metal chain.

The pocket watch has a stem-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good within around two minutes or so over 24 hours. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 48mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for London (import mark), 1919, with an importer’s mark for George Stockwell. The case back has engine turned detail with a vacant cartouche to the centre. The front of the case is in good condition but there is some unevenness to the back.

The plastic lens is in good condition.

The white enamel dial has gold coloured hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. There is a faint hairline crack running through the centre.

The watch comes with a white metal chain, 28cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. There is also a silver fob, hallmarked for 1914, with the initials RE to the front.
