Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1870s.
The box opens to reveal a beautifully fitted interior lined in red leather and blue taffeta silk.
The inside of the lid has a score board and cribbage board made from Ebony and Ivory.

The two packs of Bezique cards are period, original to the box complete with the leather markers and the Pocket Book to Bezique dated 1870.
The tray is removable and underneath contains some games counters and two modern set of playing cards which completes the box ready for use.

The quality hinges are gilded as is the inlaid plaque to the back signed by the maker / retailer "Mary Hick, Bath".
A magnificent box in superb condition, measuring 7 1/4" x 7 1/2" x 4" tall to top of stones.
