Antique English Polished Bronze Photograph Frame - Ferns C.1870

Description

A stunning Victorian photograph or picture frame dating to around 1870 made from a highly polished bronze beautifully pierced or reticulated with intricate engraving. The pierced work is made up of a series of ferns; the two doors with little knobs and beautifully engraved.

The bezel pops out to allow the photograph to be inserted or changed behind the glass. The back incorporates a folding easel stand which all retains the original gilding. The top of the easel is engraved with the retailer's signature; Curtis, Leicester.

The overall size is 6" wide at base and stands 6 1/2" tall; the aperture measures 3 3/8" x 2 1/4". Excellent condition.
