Breakfront Burr Walnut Inlaid Bookcase

19th century
Description

Truly magnificent four section breakfront open bookcase in burr walnut, inlaid with satinwood banding, rosettes, boxwood stringing, ebonised beading, carved ebony flowers at the top of the capitals and with a pierced brass gallery.

It was made, we believe, for the Reverend C.W. Holland around 1895 for his residence at 66 Lillie Road, Fulham, by a top London craftsman. We found a label for the Reverend stapled to the top of one of the sections when it was taken apart recently for some small repairs and refurbishment.

It is now in excellent condition.

It is a superb statement piece of high quality late Victorian furniture and ready to grace any house.

Depth - side sections - 13" (33cms)

Depth centre section - 15" (38cms)

Height - 48" (122cms)
