Description

One of the finest letter clips we have had in some time, an absolute gem by the top notch London silversmith, William Comyns.

The back or base is covered in sterling silver with a full English hallmark for London 1907, Edwardian in era.

The clip has a sprung hing to clip papers, letters or business cards. The front panel is made from a period tablet of polished Tortoise shell. The shell is framed with a stunning raised border.

The shell is decorated with the most exquisite pique inlay of engraved silver, tiny Mother of pearl flowers and the basket is made from gold pique.

The back reveals that the piece was retailed by the top-notch retailer, J C Vickery of Regent Street; gold embossed into the leather backing.

Superb condition, measuring 3 3/4" x 3".
