Pair of Late 19thc Walnut Gillows Secretaire Cupboard Bookcases

1900 - 1920
Description

Pair of late 19thC walnut secretaire cupboard bookcases with birds-eye maple veneered fitted interior. Swan neck pediments on gadrooned and reeded cornice. Astral glazed doors to the bookcase with 4 walnut=ut fronted adjustable shelves. The secretaire and cupboard doors having carved panels flanked by reeded pillars, all on a plinth base.

The label depicts them as being commissioned from the Gillows Lancaster workshop between 1897-1900 at the time when they and Warings were in partnership but before the merger in 1903.
