WW1 silver trench watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours.

The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for London (import mark), 1917, with an importer’s mark for George Stockwell - from 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items, which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail. The case is in good condition with just some evidence of an earlier thread through strap to the case back.

The watch glass is in good order.

The white enamel dial is in good condition and the hands appear to be the originals (a little of the infill has come out of the minute hand over the years), a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

A vintage brown leather strap has been fitted.
