Welsh Fusee Drop-dial Clock

19th century
Description

A Welsh mahogany cased dropdial fusee wall clock. A 12" dial with a cast brass bezel surround. Blued steel 'Fleur-de-Lys' hands. A visible pendulum aperture and the original side carvings. An 8-day duration timepiece fusee mechanism.

E. Seidle of Merthyr is recorded in Peates 'Clock and Watchmakers in Wales' book as working from 1880. A Clock by the maker is in the Welsh Folk Museum.
