The ormolu mounts are of top quality and retain their original gilding. The inverted breakfront superstructure has a three quarter cast gallery and 2 banks of 3 graduated drawers, the central panel with a good quality miniature painting of a Victorian lady holding a cat within an ormolu circular frame. When unlocked the panel lowers to reveal an interior of boxwood pigeon holes and also unlocks the 2 banks of drawers by an intricate locking mechanism (see photo). The base top with solid cross grain moulding, kingwood cross banding and shaped corners, having a replaced top quality hand dyed green leather writing surface with subtle gold and blind tooling. The front with 3 over 2 shaped drawers, the whole standing on wonderful cabriole legs with superb ormolu mounts to the knees. The shaped legs outlined with further kingwood cross banding and ormolu beading and original brass castors. The middle drawer stamped " GILLOWS 1218" and "GILLOWS & CO".
Condition - Excellent, with working locks and keys.
