Description

Stylish Art Deco oak bookcase, c.1934 by the celebrated British Modernist inspired furniture makers Gomme who were later to launch the famous G-Plan range. Useful narrow dimensions, being just 31? wide, with a glazed bookcase top with three adjustable shelves over a low cupboard base. Unusual effect to the cupboard doors created with the use of three bands of oak veneers arranged at right angles to each other. Rounded front corners, original chromed handles, oversize dental detail to the lower edge and raised on neat little turned bun feet. Excellent condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops and retaining a fine set of original paper lables to the rear including the EG (Ernest Gomme) trademark and another dated 1934 and recording the design number as 0734.
