Georgian Commode Chest of Drawers

19th century
Description

A handsome antique Georgian mahogany commode dating from circa 1820 which has been converted into a chest of drawers. The upper section lifts to reveal storage space inside and below are three drawers. It has beautifully figured mahogany to the front and top. This piece would have originally started life as a commode / chamber pot cupboard and has been completely converted – the inside has basically been gutted with only the exterior shell remaining, which has been given a french polished finish. Would make a lovely bed side cabinet, TV unit or bedroom chest.

Mahogany

Condition Report:

Some slight bubbling to the veneer on the top. Some mends to the veneer loss around the edges. It would have stated life as a commode and has been converted into a chest of drawers.
