Description

A C19th decorated terracotta chinaman, retaining its original colourful polychrome decoration; his traditional oriental costume with straw coollie hat and robe finely decorated with butterflies, birds and foliage; carrying two rectangular baskets similarly decorated; standing on a circular plinth with gilt decoration. Stamped "G&St" (Gerbing and Stephan were manufacturers of fine majolica and terracotta)
