EDWARDIAN SOLID SILVER, TWIN COMPACT STAMP HOLDER, HALLMARKED BIRMINGHAM 1902, BY BLANCKENSEE & SONS – NJL 8565
This is a wonderful and rare item; a solid silver stamp holder, clearly hallmarked Birmingham 1902 and with the marker’s marks: Blanckensee & Sons. The holder has twin compartments . The base shape is a half oval with clear hallmarks to one side, and the lid shows original stamps through a clear cover; half penny and one penny. Inside the lid has original burgundy coloured leather cover. There are two compartments internally and these are gilt covered. The holder sits on four ball feet.
Condition:
Lovely condition for the age, no dents to the outer casing and the hinged lid works perfectly. The internal leather covering is slightly worn at the corners. Original stamps are in great condition with only a few slight stains (excellent for the age).
Measusurements: 5.40cm x 1.9cm approx.
Weight: 30.45 grams approx.
