A magnificent and most unusual Victorian Ice Bucket made from glass and silverplate by the creme de la creme of silversmith's, Elkington and Co. The bucket has a folding swing handle and is lucky enough to retain it's original drainer which sits on a shelf inside the bucket allowing any melted ice to run through the drainer away from the ice. It is the drainer that is struck with the set of marks for Elkignton together withe the date letter for 1871.

What makes this piece most unusual is the etched designs around the sides of classical male figures on horseback, quite outstanding.

Excellent condition. The rim diameter measures 5 1/2" x 4 3/4" tall or 7 1/2" tall to top of handle while standing upright.
