Collinge Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
With three small drawers above a two door cupboard with a loose shelf, over three larger drawers in the base. Fabulous decorated panels and drawer fronts depicting figure groups and individuals set within a landscape with some charming detail (note the guys playing chequers). The bottom drawers each feature a circle of four bats, an auspicious animal in Chinese folklore. Earlier repairs to the doors and fronts of the lower drawers. The handles, drawer sides and runners appear to be modern replacements. Beautiful worn finish to the laquer work with a particularly good patina.
