Fabulous late 19th.c. wardrobe and clothes press by the celebrated British cabinet makers Maple & Co. c.1880. Full length hanging wardrobe space to each side of a centre cupboard fitted with sliding shelves, over four long drawers of graduated depth. Stylish looking robe of Gothic or Arts and Crafts influence in pale ash timbers with well figured mahogany trim. Architectural crenellated or dental cornice and unusual carved and reeded detail picked out in gold to striking effect against the mahogany. Original gilded brass handles and hinges. Superior quality typical of Malpes, the biggest and most highly regarded furniture makers of their day. With a clear maker’s stamp to the edge of the top drawer. Excellent condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops. Key supplied. Splits into four pieces plus cornice and plinth for ease of delivery.
