Atropos Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
This cabinet is fashioned from highly figured, honey coloured oak and provides accommodation for stationary and envelopes, a fall front writing slope with very dark blue inset leather skiver, a marble, oak framed jotting tablet and pull out pen and ink tray with spaces for paper clips etc.

The original key is present and the lock is fully functional. On unlocking the top lifts and the fall front is lowered ready for action.
The great age of writing is not over and there is nothing better than to receive a 'real' letter in the post whether 'love', 'poison pen','begging' or otherwise! Do your bit for the language and promote the use of pen and ink...you know it makes sense!
