Lancaster Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
They were made by Gibbons of Wolverhampton, and all of them are clearly marked with the makers name and registration mark just under the top of the handles, and this gives us the approximate date of manufacture. They are very heavy weighing approximately 1kg each.
They are beautifully made, with an early Art Nouveau shaped handle, and are a rich copper colour but the flash of the camera has made them appear to be brass.
