As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this wonderful decorative Japanese dish or wall panel from the opulent Meiji period , the lobed silver dish stands on its three original shaped feet however in our opinion is better displayed either wall hung or on a display stand in a cabinet , the heavy quality fan shaped lobes are formed from solid silver with intricate silver detailing around panels of native birds including geese , cranes and egrets, the central panel is a wonderful gold lacquer scene decorated in shibayama with Mandarin ducks in a tranquil lakeside setting ,as if that wasnt enough the outer border has been filled with twelve ivory segments further decorated with muti colour floral shibayama detailing , an increasingly scarce Japanese work of art.The condition of the plaque is fabulous with no losses to the shibayama detailing , the gold lacquer in superb unrubbed condition and the heavy gauge silver is in a solid state .Approximate sizesDiam...
