A Georgian Mahogany Collectors Cabinet Circa 1820 with Collection of Exotic Butterflies and Moths.

Description

A splendid period mahogany collectors cabinet with 22 drawers all containing a collection of beautiful, decorative and highly colourful butterflies and moths from the tropics and elswhere.

This cabinet which is circa 1820 has twenty two drawers and is set upon bracket feet. The lock and bow key are present and working and the proportions and small size make it very attractive. If the cabinet was required without the collection this can be arranged but as a decorative piece it is highly desirable intact.

The cabinet is solid and has not been restored, it retains a superb patina and colour which is typical of the period.the specimens are in good condition and are some of the most beautiful examples the world can offer, large and exotic with many iridescent butterflies. Nearly 600 specimens in total.

A package of photos comprising all the drawer contents will be sent on request and any other views of the cabinet. All questions are welcome.

Width. 33 inches.

Front to back. 20 inches.
