Antique English Novelty Silver Plated Inkwell - Golf - C.1900

Description

A fabulous desk accessory for the Golf devotee, made from English silver plate, the underside is struck with the makers mark, hard to read but I think T H & L G, also marked EPNS for Electro-Plated Nickel Silver. The piece would date to the late Victorian or Edwardian era, around 1900.

The stand sits on four original bun feet and the shaped base decorated with repousse work and the top is beautifully engraved. The two spherical inkwells are in the form of Golf Balls still retaining their original removable glass liners. Between the balls, there is a pair of crossed Clubs which are gilded.

Excellent condition, measuring 7" x 6".
