Description

A good mahogany Regency Period secretaire bookcase. The upper section with a stepped moulded cornice above twin glazed doors with arched gothic glazing bars and quatrefoil carved mouldings, opening to reveal three mahogany adjustable shelves and reeded brass door edging. The lower section with an unusual hinged folding book rest above the rectangular secretaire drawer, which opens to reveal a well fitted writing interior with a baize lined surface, pigeon holes and mahogany drawers.There is also a most unusual feature of a "double" drawer which is fitted for use as a cellaret with a lead lined interior. All the drawers having oak linings and retaining their original turned mahogany drawer pulls. With solid mahogany sides the whole supported on the original shaped bracket feet. English circa 1820

Dimensions: 43" wide x 90" high x 21" deep (secretaire height 30")

Condition: This bookcase is in excellent original condition, cleaned and waxed. A wonderful colour and patination.
