Magnificent and Unusual Antique English Silver Plated Covered Fruit Dish C.1890

Description

A truly magnificent and very showy centrepiece, looking exceptionally lavish and grand. It's a very unusual piece standing on four grape vine feet with the same decoration used around the rim and on the two handles each side.

The domed lid is pierced or reticulated and topped with a fabulous gilded finial. Once the lid is removed the shallow gilded dish is revealed, there is a ring on either side of the dish to make it easy to remove for washing.

English in era, dating to around 1890. Unmarked. Excellent condition and quality, spanning 15" handle to handle, the interior dish diameter measuring 9 1/4" and standing 7 1/2" to top of finial.
