A Large Melodious 12-Tune Swiss Music Box

Description

A large and wonderful quality SWISS MUSIC BOX in superb condition.

By F. Conchon of Geneva, the case is of beautifully-figured quartered burr walnut, whilst the professionally-restored and fully-working movement plays 12 TUNES. The tone is truly very fine, and the movement incorporates a number of technical advances such as: tune indicator; individual tune selection; speed regulator and large double springs for greater play duration.

Complete with the original tune sheet. The case is 28.75ins (73cms) long, the cylinder 11ins (28cms).

*The tradition of Swiss music boxes started at the very end of the 18th century and reached its zenith in the 3rd & 4th quarters of the 19th century. F.Conchon are recorded as making "fine music boxes in the period 1874-1898".
