The 8-day twin-fusee movement strikes hours on a bell whilst the time is displayed on the engraved and silvered dial, signed by the maker. 13.5ins (34.3cms) high excluding the handle.

Robert BRYSON worked in Edinburgh from 1810 (The Mint, High Street) until 1840 when he moved to Princes Street where he worked until 1852. He "produced work of the highest class, including a splendid sidereal clock in 1832 for the Royal Observatory in Edinburgh."
