A Rare Silver Novelty Mandolin Pillbox.

A gorgeous Victorian silver pillbox of shaped form. This lovely example is a novelty piece and is fashioned to represent a mandolin. The lid is hinged and opens to reveal a fully gilded interior and there is a chain and ring, suggesting that it belonged on a chatelaine.

The outside is decorated with figures,flowers and leaves. A delightful piece both decorative and usable.

Condition :- Excellent, with no dents, splits or holes. The gilding is very good.

Hallmarks :- Clear and readable. The box is Dutch in origin and has English import marks.
