ANTIQUE NUMBER SA349743: Large Burmese Bronze/mirrored Temple Lion, C 1820

Large Burmese Bronze/mirrored Temple Lion, C 1820

£1,995    $2,587    €2,375
A stunning quality antique early 19th Century Burmese or Thai bronze temple Lion/ Fo Dog, c1820. This is a beautiful example depicted in the traditional manner playing with a ball. Traditionally these are guardians at Buddhist temples and this is probably a temple piece - it still has a ring to enable it to be chained to the temple building. This is a very fine quality casting and very heavy (10 kgs). The detail is amazing with lovely decoration, including mirrored panels inserted into the body. It has aged well, with lovely patina and is in good original condition with only very minor surface wear. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact us with any questions or if you would like to view the item.
Size: 40 cm tall x 15 cm wide x 33 cm long, weight 10kgs.
