A stunning quality antique early 19th Century Burmese or Thai bronze Fo Lion, c1820. This is a beautiful example of a male Fo Lion, depicted in the traditional manner playing with a ball.
Traditionally Fo Lions are guardians at Buddhist temples and this is probably a temple piece - it still has the ring to enable it to be chained to the temple building.
It is a very fine quality casting and very heavy (10 kgs). The detail is amazing with lovely decoration, including mirrored panels inserted into the body.
It has aged well, with lovely patina and is in good original condition with only very minor surface wear. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact us with any questions or if you would like to view the item.
Size: 40 cm tall x 15 cm wide x 33 cm long. Happy to ship worldwide ,but this piece is very heavy (12 kgs when boxed), so we advise that you contact us for a bespoke shipping quotation for your country before purchase.
