A stunning quality antique early 19th Century Burmese or Thai bronze temple Lion/ Fo Dog, c1820. This is a beautiful example depicted in the traditional manner playing with a ball. Traditionally these are guardians at Buddhist temples and this is probably a temple piece - it still has a ring to enable it to be chained to the temple building. This is a very fine quality casting and very heavy (10 kgs). The detail is amazing with lovely decoration, including mirrored panels inserted into the body. It has aged well, with lovely patina and is in good original condition with only very minor surface wear.
