Large Masons Ironstone Jug C 1840

Description

An impressively large 19th century Masons Ironstone Jug, the octagonal body with a waved rim, and broad spout, above an octagonal faceted bowl, raised on a small foot rim. The jug with a blue and gilt hydra handle, the body and inside of the rim decorated with flowers and blooms amongst which butterflies move, and exotic birds perch. The whole with good colour palette, and gilt highlighting. The underside with 'Masons Patent Ironstone Chine' mark with crown and draped panel.
