Antique Sideboard Continental Elm Buffet Country Cupboard Cabinet C19th c.1800

This is a charming continental C19th sideboard dating to c.1800.

The figuring and rich honey colour to the wood throughout sets this piece apart. The use of burr elm adds interest and lends intrinsic beauty to the modest form. A generous gauge, as seen in the thickness of the drawer fronts and a pegged construction add solidity.

Rising from a plinth base, two locking, burr field panel doors are fitted with solid brass pierced escutcheons and conceal cupboard space divided by a single shelf. A pair of generous drawers adorned with sinuous handles over pierced brass back plates provide further storage beneath the wonderful patina of the triple plank top finished with an ogee profile.
