1920s Thomas Russell Full Hunter Pocket Watch

1900 - 1920
Description

1920s Thomas Russell full hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two to three minutes over 24 hours. The movement is signed Thomas Russell & Son, Liverpool, and it is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a personal inscription from November 1922.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The rolled gold full hunter case is the “Russell” model from the Illinois Watch Case Company. Thomas Russell would have assembled and subsequently retailed the watch after importing the movement from Switzerland and the case from USA. The case has light surface marks including some rubbing around the edge, and four little indentations to the back but overall it is in good condition for a 1920s piece.

The watch glass has a light scratch, 1.5cm, long but it is not too obvious to the naked eye.

The signed dial is in lovely condition and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
