Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the 1930s.
The front is carved with a dragon and phoenix and the sides are carved with birds and foliage. It has carry handles to the sides (later replacements) and a brass lock with key (for decoration only). Inside, the chest is clean and is lined with camphor wood with its distinctive aroma. Would make a great blanket chest, storage box or could be used as a decorative coffee table.
