Victorian Metamorphic Prayer Chair

Description

A small and unusual antique Victorian oak metamorphic prayer chair (Prie Dieu). The seat lifts up to convert the chair into a kneeling prayer chair complete with bible rest to the back. In a Gothic Revival style it has an open fretted back and padded top rail. It has been fairly recently re-upholstered and restored.

Good condition. Fairly solid and sturdy – some slight give to front legs. Fairly new upholstery.

Width: 16.5 inches

Depth : 14 inches

Height to Kneeler: 7 inches

Height to seat: 15.5 inches

Overall to Back: 32 inches
